Mining is a game mechanic where by the player can dig into the terrain, extract resources from it and restore it. Mining can be done with a Drill, where the mining speed depends on the Tier of the Drill used.
One important thing to note is that the terrain within a certain radius of the Vat can not be mined.
This mechanic is made possible by the Voxel Farm Engine.
Minable Resources[]
These are found at any depth or within pillars(representing Moon's pieces spliting of it because of a Meteor-crash in near past). Which resources you can harvest depends on the Tier of the Drill used.
- Ground Pounder (Tier 1) and above:
- Titanium Drill (Tier 2) and above:
- Voltronic Ore
- Saltex Ore
- Garrison Ore
- Graphene Drill (Tier 3) and above:
- Crystalis Ore
- Dark Matter Shale
- Monolithium Drill (Tier 4) doesn't provide any new resource to be able to harvest, only faster mining
Restoring Terrain[]
It is possible to place back resources that have been mined using the Drill. This allows you to refill holes, mine shafts or natural caves, as well as construct natural walls and geographic features. It can also be used to create landmarks, shelters, sculptures or anything else you can imagine.
Tips[]
The below are tips on returning the surface and are applicable to v0.9 as the Jetpack is unreleased.
- Mining at an angle around 45 degrees will allow you to easily return to the surface, at an angle around 60 degrees you have to sprint.
- If you get stuck considered re-spawning at base via the suicide command.
